The Crown Season 1 Episode 2 “Hyde Park Corner” :- Watch The Crown Season 1 Episode 2 “Hyde Park Corner” on Youtube on Fire, While the safari sequences are gorgeously rich and textured and her deepening relationship with her husband is charming, it’s the scenes after the king’s passing that underline the intelligence and control of Claire Foy’s performance. She is executing an almost impossible task with enviable skill. As for Matt Smith, the highest tribute one can pay is that he evokes empathy for the Duke of Edinburgh amid the occasional compulsory gaffe (“like the hat” he says to a splendidly attired Kenyan dignitary), granting him a degree of emotional intelligence that comes as a genuine surprise. A loving husband and father, this Philip is feeling increasingly emasculated by his marriage and chafing at encroaching requirements of his new role. In fact, a plethora of good character turns ensure the story never gets stuck. Vanessa Kirby is a striking Margaret, flighty and careless but perhaps irreparably damaged by her father’s death. Pip Torrens looks like good value as Tommy Lascelles, dead-eyed and humourless, but dangerous as Elizabeth’s new private secretary and keeper of palace secrets. It’s not a perfect hour, but never less than enjoyable. The travails of Churchill are entertaining enough and, when he rises to deliver a eulogy over the airwaves, very affecting – they threaten to overbalance the Windsors. On occasion, too, Morgan’s dramatic juxtapositions are little too pat: George VI dies the night after watching his daughter making a success of her first tour, while she in turn learns of his passing just after writing him a letter.
