The OA Season 1 Episode 6 “Forking Paths” :- Watch The OA Season 1 Episode 6 “Forking Paths” on Youtube on Fire, A powerful, even overwhelming, feeling comes with recognizing yourself in a TV show. As the medium grows more diverse, there is greater opportunity for this. Recently, I’ve found myself in various conversations about whether the lead characters of “Insecure” are “relatable.” As a black woman, I actually don’t relate to Issa and Molly at all. We come from drastically different cultural backgrounds, our goals take on different shapes and our romantic pitfalls exist on opposing wavelengths. But this isn’t an issue for me. If anything, I enjoy how “Insecure” gives me a different way to see the world, illuminating the experiences of black women who are unlike myself. As I’ve stated in previous recaps, the specificity of “Insecure” is one of its greatest strengths. But for other black women who yearn to identify strongly with these characters, I can’t imagine they’ll like what they see reflected in this week’s episode. The series has never been afraid to make its leads imperfect. But this one takes things a step further, particularly with Molly, who shifts from being a frustrating (albeit engaging) character to one who is downright unlikable. With Jared now back in the picture, Molly is elated. It’s as though she has finally found purpose. He’s sweet, caring, playful and cuts her a lot of slack. The sex is great. What could possibly go wrong? • This week’s episode was directed by the legendary Debbie Allen. Some of the strongest directorial choices are when she turns her gaze to the expressions.
